Platov Airport
The new international airport of Rostov-on-Don, named after the Cossack ataman Matvey Platov, was built in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The airport with an area of 50,000 square meters serves up to 5 million passengers a year.
The architectural design of the largest infrastructure project in the Rostov region, created by Alex Bitus of the London bureau Twelve Architects & Masterplanners, symbolizes the bridges on the Don River. The three-story terminal was designed with the participation of designers from Nefa Architects and VOX Architects - they are responsible for the interior design of the lounges for business class passengers. But the design of the airport was carried out by the German company Assmann Beraten + Platen.
Natural lighting and a comfortable microclimate inside the terminal is provided by panoramic glazing with an area of 15,000 sq. m with highly selective Pilkington Suncool® 70/35 Pro T glasses.
